Victoria
Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, Victoria is a refurbishment of one of Toorak's earliest homes. Built in 1879, the Victorian mansion was originally designed by Francis Maloney White for pastoralist Archibald Fisken.
The project seeks to extend the life of the residence without diminishing its architectural identity. Original proportions, decorative mouldings and historic details establish the framework for contemporary interventions, allowing old and new to coexist without imitation.
Within the interiors, natural stone, warm timber and carefully detailed joinery introduce a contemporary material language alongside the home's inherited architecture. The contrast is deliberate but restrained, allowing the character of the original rooms to remain present while accommodating the needs of contemporary living.
Victoria is an exercise in continuity rather than reinvention — allowing a house shaped by another century to remain relevant to the lives unfolding within it.
