Lygon
Lygon explores how circulation can become a catalyst for social activity, transforming movement through a mixed-use development into opportunities for encounter and exchange.
Located along Carlton's Lygon Street, the project seeks to activate an adjoining laneway through a multi-level hospitality offering. Distinct architectural volumes, arched openings and screened glazing establish a layered street presence, while the arrangement of spaces encourages movement between different settings for gathering and social interaction.
Within the hospitality interiors, a rhythmic timber ceiling, warm lighting and a restrained material palette create a sense of continuity. A central seating element anchors the space, while framed views and carefully considered lighting allow its atmosphere to shift from day to evening.
Lygon reconsiders circulation not simply as a means of moving between spaces, but as part of the social experience itself.
