Nicholas Sun
Founder/Director

Nicholas founded Embrace Architects in 2013 and continues to take a lead role in many projects, locally and nationally, by overseeing the design and realisation, to ensure excellence and quality. His extensive experience covers: residential, commercial and aged care developments.

Nicholas’ attention to design details, understanding of planning schemes and building regulations, set the foundation for his leadership and management. Nicholas’ expertise lies in his ability to accurately grasp and understand the complexity of the entire situation, and lead the team through the staged process in order to achieve optimal design solutions.

Jesse Uren
Director

Jesse studied architecture at Deakin University, Australia and Stuttgart University, Germany. After working in the offices HASSELL, Melbourne and Foster + Partners in London, he joined Embrace Architects in 2018. He continues to build on more than 15 years of professional experience on a wide range of commercial, educational, cultural and multi-residential projects, from concept design stage through to practical completion. In recent years, he has focused on residential sector, ranging from single houses to mid-rise towers.

Yuan Wang
Associate

Yuan has worked in the architecture industry for more than 10 years. She brings specialised expertise in design development and contract administration. Her experience ranges from multi-residential, mixed-use development to public and educational sectors. Yuan devises practical ways to bring design from paper to life.

She has the capability to develop a concept to detailed design and construction documentation, with a focus on quality management throughout the entire project life cycle. Her collaborative approach to both design and practical details ensures design concepts are fulfilled and delivered on site.

Max Waters

Max joined Embrace in 2015. He has played a key role on several projects, from concept design stage to practical completion, including The Gratis, in Deepdene, Melbourne, and our Henley Rise apartment project in Como, Perth.

A keen Australian Rules Footballer, Max also has a passion for personal health and fitness.

Shabnam Bahraini
Interior Designer

Shabnam joined Embrace Interior Design team in 2020 and works on all aspects of interior packages, from space planning and coordination to detailed design, sourcing finishes and materials. She has played a key role on several projects, including the design and delivery of Toorak House 2 and Carmyle Street .

Born and raised in Iran, Shabnam’s passion for design has led her around the globe, with time spent working and living in Dubai, before arriving in Australia.

She enjoys balancing her passion for design with other creative fields. In her spare time Shabnam enjoys cooking, and travelling

Mina

Irene Yang

Irene joined our Melbourne studio in 2017, following the completion of her Masters Degree. She has been involved with many of the studio’s successful projects.

Outside the studio, Irene is a keen photographer.

Joanne Qiu

Joanna joined our Melbourne studio in 2019, subsequently completing her Master degree in Architecture from RMIT University in 2020
